About
Welcome to Coaches Corner, a culinary haven nestled in the heart of Iowa City at 749 Mormon Trek Blvd. This vibrant establishment is not just a restaurant; it's a celebration of food, community, and sports culture. Coaches Corner is known for its exceptional selection of starters and signature dishes. Whether you're settling in for a game or enjoying a night out with friends, don't miss the Loaded Nachos — a mountain of tortilla chips topped with melted cheese and your choice of protein, all rounded out with fresh veggies and zesty sauces. Alternatively, dive into the Buffalo Chicken Dilla, a flavorful quesadilla that combines the rich taste of buffalo chicken with crunchy veggies, served with tangy sour cream and salsa. For something heartier, indulge in their marvelous Jumbo Bavarian Pretzel — a soft, warm treat that's perfect for sharing.
One of the standout features of Coaches Corner is its atmosphere. With decor that pays homage to some of the most iconic coaches, guests are invited to soak in the history of sports while enjoying their meals. The chairs and walls almost tell stories with each name etched into them — a perfect backdrop for sharing memories over plates of garlic Parmesan wings or perfectly cooked sweet potato fries.
Customer reviews highlight not just the food, but the outstanding service. Patrons frequently mention the attentive staff, who do an excellent job of keeping everyone's drinks filled and ensuring a pleasant dining experience, whether you're out for a casual meal or a spirited game night. “ Great staff and food. N I t a bar kinda guy but I loved it thank you. The cajin burger was amazing. ”
“ Excellent food. The wait staff would make sure my glass was continuously full. Taco salad was very filling, I had the beef. The seasoned sauce on the side was a little tangy and mild in heat. The wings we had were labeled hot and very bearable. I would actually rate them medium at best. Look at the chairs and you will notice names of coaches. I would love to go back and and hear some of the stories. Anyone that is a Hawkeye fan this place is a must. ”
“ It was fantastic. The food, servers are fantastic. Thursday night Kareoke is a blast. Drinks are top notch. So amazing to see such a wonderland of personality and musical talent in one spot. Will definitely be back. After all Ashley owes us all a song. She promised :) ”
“ Ordered online to be delivered by Grubhub and got it nice and hot. Everything was fresh. The sweet potato fries were cooked perfectly. The garlic Parmesan wings were so good. The Cajun fries didn’t give me the Cajun flare but they were still so good. I was pleasantly surprised. I’ve been trying different spots I haven’t before and the taste and quality of the food was beyond what I expected. I cannot speak on the service though as I never went in. ”
“ Note to owners: Hang on to your cooks if you can! The Reuben and fries I had while watching Iowa men's wrestling one Friday night were sooo good. Good to see some local beers among your selection. Keep doing what you do! ”
“ Its rare I review. Simple & quality. Food amount is abundant (soup bowl of queso with the pretzel) and other tables had a lot on their plate. Different seating areas for types of groups and always a good tv view. I appreciate the way they plate their burgers ”
“ Good food, good people, great atmosphere! They have every type of food you could want along with a large selection of beers & liquor specials! ”
